The New Brunswick RCMP is warning the public about a new scam currently active in the Southeast region of New Brunswick. In each case, the scammer calls and pretends to be from a utility service provider. The caller tells the person who answers the phone that their power is about to be disconnected due to late payments. The scammer then asks the person to pay immediately by electronic transfer in order to avoid losing their service.
