In 2021, the province implemented a new model to reform local governance in the province of New Brunswick. The Local Governance Reform (LGR) resulted in the creation of 77 local governments, 12 rural districts, and includes an expanded mandate for regional service commissions. As part of the restructuring plan, policing service boundaries will be impacted across the province in select communities to correspond to the local governance reform.
