The provincial government has signed a development agreement with Natoaganeg (Eel Ground) First Nation to support the community's priorities related to social, environmental, cultural and economic matters.

On October 7, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m., members of the Tracadie RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Route 135 in Hacheyville. An 81-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver, and only other occupant of the vehicle, was transported to hospital with what is believed to be minor injuries. Tags: new-brunswick
